To preserve the cultural-entertainment boundary, we use reflective rather than deterministic language across the Site. The following are examples of how we phrase statements:

Calculator Results

The zodiac calculator uses precise Lunar New Year dates for 1980–2030 and approximated boundaries for 1900–1979 and 2031–2100 (clearly flagged in the years chart). For birthdays in the approximated years, or in late January / early February of any year, results may in rare cases differ from other sources that use different conventions (such as LiChun rather than Lunar New Year). This Site uses the Lunar New Year rule consistently.

Cultural Respect

The Chinese zodiac is a living cultural tradition with deep roots in Chinese folk practice. This Site is built by non-native practitioners who have done their best to represent the tradition accurately and respectfully, in a way that is accessible to English-speaking users. Where we have simplified or interpreted, we have tried to do so without flattening the tradition's depth.
